Quality of Living in Architecture: Interior Design in Line with the Rhythm of Life

July 7, 2026

At HOLA Design, we create spaces that go beyond aesthetics. Designed with the rhythm of life, senses and human needs in mind, they become an environment that has a real impact on everyday comfort.

Architecture, both classical and modern, is usually judged through the lens of aesthetics. Only those who want to plan and create a home for themselves or their loved ones realise how complex this reality is. Architecture is not merely a composition of shapes and surfaces. It creates a multi-layered system that combines technical, functional, and, especially important today, sensory aspects. Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that every good design begins with the person, because it is precisely this person that it is intended to serve for many years to come. At HOLA Design, we understand this even better because we work with the most demanding investors from various corners of the world, representing diverse cultural backgrounds.

Human as a starting point

How do we translate this humanistic idea of designing for people into design practice? We begin with their needs, daily rhythms, habits, and lifestyles. The starting point, therefore, is long, drawn-out conversations, especially since true needs, expectations, and dreams are often discussed between the lines. We know how to listen carefully.

We know that a well-designed space responds to specific everyday scenarios: how we move around the home, the relationships between functional areas, and the need for privacy in relation to spending time together. We also consider the real-world conditions — both spatial and legal — that define the design framework. It is from this precise analysis of countless references that the future comfort of users is born. Invisible at first glance, but felt every day.

With all the senses

Architecture does not exist in a vacuum. In each project, we strive to respond with great respect to the potential of a specific location. Properly designed interiors open up to daylight (with cardinal directions playing a particularly important role here), frame views, protect from noise, or consciously filter it. They address the context of a specific region, its natural and cultural heritage, and the terrain, blurring the line between interior and exterior in various ways. This creates a space that not only looks impressive but, above all, creates a pleasant, soothing environment.

It is worth remembering that we experience the space around us with all our senses, not just our eyes. The way it sounds, smells and feels to the touch of our hands and feet, but also how it is perceived by the entire body, is fundamental to our well-being. The softness of light, the quality of acoustics, the temperature of surfaces, the scent of materials — such as wood or leather — and the proportions of rooms all influence our well-being, our level of tension, and our ability to regenerate. These observations translate into specific design decisions designed to support the human nervous system. This approach is referred to as neuro-architecture. It is here, not just in the use of expensive or rare materials, that we see the essence of luxury projects.

Return to nature

We educate our clients on the impact of architecture on physical health. Air quality, noise levels, temperature, and humidity are all factors that directly impact the human body every day. There is a growing discussion about sick building syndrome, often associated with outdated buildings. However, excessively high temperatures, excessively low humidity, and ambient noise (from outside or neighbours) are also common problems in new apartment buildings.

That is why it is so important to design a stable and predictable environment that promotes regeneration. The bedroom plays a particularly important role here, with lighting, acoustics, and a micro-climate that support deep sleep. It is the quality of rest that has the greatest impact on quality of life.

During waking hours, one of the greatest benefits is contact with nature — both direct and mediated within a home or apartment. We combine natural materials, diverse textures (something we know from landscapes untamed by humans), and living plants to restore the disturbed relationship between humans and their surroundings. Consciously using these resources is called biophilic design. Analogous to growing plants, we use artificial light to regulate the circadian rhythm of household members and put them in a good mood at all times.

Heart and mind

What a person experiences in an interior with all their senses can be compared to the heart of an apartment or villa. Beneath the exterior lies another layer — the brain of the project, which also serves the well-being of its users. Every building of modern standards (new or historic, but skilfully modernised, respecting its historical value) is also a complex technological entity. Installations, ventilation, heating, cooling, lighting, and building automation systems remain invisible, yet they largely determine the quality of life.

And how can you recognise a well-designed, truly comfortable interior? It is when everyday activities are performed effortlessly and naturally. Such a space intuitively supports the user and does not require them to consider the functioning of their home or apartment. True comfort does not call attention to itself. It makes everything flow smoothly, effortlessly, and naturally.

We have no doubt that ergonomics is not at odds with aesthetics. On the contrary, it allows us to achieve a coherent and logical form. Appropriate proportions, relationships between rooms, and well-designed circulation and storage areas create the quality of space, which translates into a pleasant living experience. This is precisely what we want to provide to our clients.

Architecture as an experience

At HOLA Design, we know that comprehensive architectural design creates an environment that enhances the quality of everyday experiences. Such a space becomes an integral part of life, supporting well-being and providing a sense of security.

This applies to every stage of the interior design process. We are a partner for our clients throughout the entire process — acting as a discreet concierge, overseeing every stage of implementation. First, we identify the client’s lifestyle and expectations. Then, we comprehensively translate them into reality: from property selection support, through architectural and interior design, to project management. We have experience working both in Poland and abroad, and we are constantly expanding our experience.

We always ensure that, from the very beginning to the happy ending, the entire process fulfils dreams of peace, because an apartment or house intended for pleasure can also be created in a pleasant atmosphere. This is precisely how it is imbued with positive emotions.
