Polish hospitality 2026: the key to success according to MICHELIN

Polish hospitality 2026: the key to success according to MICHELIN

January 24, 2026

Last year's MICHELIN Keys recommendations signal the end of the era of "safe design" and predictable, international designs that dominated the premium segment for years. MICHELIN inspectors now emphasize "unbridled personality and vibrancy," favoring unique character over luxurious yet repetitive patterns.

In the hotel industry, the MICHELIN Key distinction can serve as confirmation that efforts made amidst the twists and turns of global trends lead to unique and appreciated results. For travelers, it is what the famous stars are to gourmets – the most reliable guide to the highest standards in the world.

The Brando Perspective: Luxury Without Compromise

The Brando Hotel in French Polynesia remains a global benchmark for modernly building a unique identity in the ultra-premium sector. This property, awarded three MICHELIN keys, defines the concept of an "unforgettable stay." This luxurious and eco-friendly resort, located on the Tetiaroa Atoll, once home to the famous actor Marlon Brando, proves that top-quality hotel services can be delivered in harmony with nature. Solar panels and organic gardens are as essential as impeccable service. Polish properties, striving for excellence in their own way, are developing in a similar vein of uncompromising authenticity.

Polish hospitality map according to MICHELIN Keys

For the Polish tourism market, 2025 was a historic year. Poland debuted in the MICHELIN Keys rankings with 12 distinguished hotels. By placing us alongside players such as Hungary (13 Keys) and the Czech Republic (11 Keys), MICHELIN sends a clear signal that Polish hospitality has reached global maturity and is entering the global hospitality arena on its own terms.

The Polish map of MICHELIN Keys-honored hotels reveals both intimate mountain retreats like the EN Hotel in Zakopane and the Jaskółka Dom i SPA in Szklarska Poręba, as well as contemporary metropolitan classics in the style of the Raffles Europejski Warsaw. Although the Polish MICHELIN selection encompasses a total of 64 properties, it is on the Baltic Sea that one of the most personal interpretations of this distinction was born. Where history meets the elements, we find a place that defies corporate definitions of luxury.

Łeba Castle: the story of the people who touched it

Awarding it the first MICHELIN key in 2025, inspectors described Łeba Castle as possessing an "unbridled personality." As defined by Michelin, this distinction emphasizes a "very special stay," meaning a special experience that goes beyond the norm.

For owner and board chairwoman Barbara Latomska, the hotel is a deeply personal journey. "The history of the Castle isn't the history of architecture, but the history of the people who touched it, fell in love with it, and decided to dedicate themselves to it, often for life," she says. "For me, the Castle isn't just a project or an investment, but a relationship with the place, its history, and the people who create it.".

For this history to endure, the hotel, situated almost directly on the Baltic Sea beach, requires care and attention. "Each renovation, each renovated room is the result of real investment and effort. Every year, a new space, a new piece of infrastructure, appears in the Castle. And simultaneously, with each passing year, I myself follow these changes, becoming a slightly different person. The renovation process may not be immediate, but it is honest and forces us to live with truth. For me, this is the strength of the Castle," says Barbara Latomska, pleased that the MICHELIN inspectors saw more than just its material charm, that they recognized the spirit of the place.

Łeba Castle, nicknamed the "Polish Mont-Saint-Michel," revives an ancient culture of relaxation, where there is room for "being together, for conversation, for long walks, and gazing at the sea." In this context, the distinction awarded by MICHELIN inspectors encourages us to interpret luxury as a story about travel, curiosity, openness, and a willingness to see a place from a different perspective.

Polish Destinations on the Map 2026: Truth and Identity

Hotels newly added to the Michelin selection, such as Łeba Castle, are becoming top destinations for travelers planning for 2026. Their success demonstrates that the direction modern tourism is heading is a return to roots and the truth of place. Thanks to leaders like Barbara Latomska, Polish hospitality has ceased to be a copycat of Western trends. Instead of transplanting global standards, it offers, as the owner of the Castle puts it, "an authentic experience of being in a place and an experience that isn't about excess, but about meaning," which is the most valuable currency for the modern traveler.
