The biggest TVs in the world – you won't believe it!
July 12, 2021
What seemed like the pinnacle of technological advancement 10 years ago is now considered obsolete. Constant research and development in electronics delight users. No one is surprised anymore by a 60-inch TV hanging on the wall, although until recently, 32 inches was the ultimate dream. Do you know what the largest TV ever produced looks like? How many inches is it, and what might surprise you?
When size matters…
They say "size doesn't matter." This phrase doesn't apply to consumer electronics at all. When the first technological boom occurred, cell phones looked like bricks, lacked appealing design, and had very limited capabilities (beyond the basic function of making and receiving calls). Electronics began to slim down – processors and batteries took up less and less space, while screens grew in size. Today, a 6-inch display with a resolution of at least HD is the standard.
The same thing happened with televisions. Over time, devices became increasingly lighter, slimmer, sleeker, more designer, and more aesthetically pleasing. Increasingly, you'll see models in stores with virtually no bezels, simply to maximize screen size. By mounting such devices on the wall, the TV becomes less of a device and more of a decorative element with a dynamic image.
Samsung and its world's largest TV
During the ISE 2020 (Integrated Systems Europe) trade fair in Amsterdam, Samsung presented a huge microLED TV, called "The Wall" by the manufacturer.
Just don't fall off your chair - the diagonal of this model is as much as 583 inches, which is less than 15 meters (14.8 to be exact)!
It is worth mentioning that the previous The Wall presented by Samsung had a diagonal of 292 inches, so the difference between the devices is diametrical.
What sets The Wall TV apart? It's primarily the microLED technology used, along with other features that lend this device an elegant, modern feel, demonstrating the direction in which innovation should be heading.
- MicroLED is a self-emissive technology – this means it does not require a backlight (unlike LCD).
- The frameless screen blends into the surroundings.
- MicroLED panels are characterized by high levels of brightness, black level (contrast), as well as color saturation.
- MicroLED is also a modular system – each tile measures 80.64 x 45.36 x 7.22 cm, displaying an image at a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. If you need it (and have the resources), you can purchase additional modules to increase the screen area. A single tile contains millions of microLED diodes, each measuring 0.37 mm.
The maximum resolution offered by the manufacturer is 8K Ultra HD.
Other functions
What else does The Wall offer, beyond its monstrous size? A range of modern features, including:
- Black Seal – exceptionally deep, perfect black that provides incredible contrast.
- AI image scaling – automatic adjustment of resolution to screen size.
- Quantum HDR – the best available image quality processor to ensure optimal peak brightness and contrast values.
- Ultra Chroma – expressive, natural colors that add realism to the images you view.
The Wall TV's price is unknown. The 146-inch 4K model costs around 2 million złoty, so we assume the value of a device almost four times larger will be significantly higher. Samsung intends to sell the 583-inch version to businesses or very wealthy individuals.
The world's largest 4K TV - C Seed 262
You might be interested in a slightly smaller 4K LED TV. Check out the C Seed 262 – a TV with a diagonal of "only" 262 inches, or about 6.65 meters. The price is hefty – the TV costs $539,000 (excluding installation costs for the 798 kg device).
First, a few words about the manufacturer. C SEED Entertainment Systems was founded in 2009 in Vienna by former Bang & Olufsen executives. C Seed produces luxury electronics characterized by minimalist design and craftsmanship, utilizing modern technology.
But let's get back to the 262 model – what does it offer and who is it intended for?
As the manufacturer itself indicated, the main intention of producing such a large TV is to enable the creation of a high-quality home cinema.
- The viewing angles of this device are 160 degrees (vertical and horizontal).
- The LED technology used ensures image quality of 800 nits (standard in TVs is 250 nits) – this means that even when sunlight falls directly on the screen, you will still get a clear image.
- The TV is equipped with a 9.1 cinema system with six integrated speakers.
- An additional advantage of the 262 model is the built-in video storage server.
- The device also comes with a mechanical cover – you can cover the TV when you are not using it.
C Seed 201 the world's largest foldable outdoor TV
The same manufacturer is the creator of the largest foldable outdoor TV . It consists of interlocking panels that create a seamless TV screen with revolutionary pixel power, delivering ultra-high-resolution images in any light, including direct sunlight.
Each of the over 2,963,520 MicroLEDs processes image data up to 100,000 times per second, enabling the C SEED 201 to display 64 billion radiant colors.
No other television technology can produce such an extraordinary color spectrum with such precision and reliability. With the same ease, the C SEED 201 widescreen TV sinks into the ground, saving space when not in use—a true masterpiece!
