What is the lagom style in interior design?

The Scandinavian lagom style encompasses both lifestyle and interior design. The philosophy promotes celebrating everyday life, finding joy in life, and simultaneously living in balance, harmony, and an ecological approach to life. Spaces decorated in this style feature many natural motifs. The space is designed to be comfortable and harmonious, with neither too much nor too little.

Consistency and connection with nature

In a lagom-style apartment, we'll notice a cohesiveness in the interior design. There's no opulence here, but everything creates the impression of an incredibly comfortable and cozy living space. The colors are subdued, and the decorative elements evoke nature. Furniture made from natural materials such as wood, stone, wicker, and rattan dominates. We're more likely to notice objects with soul here than modern technological devices. Interiors should be filled with both natural and artificial light, yet atmospheric and warm. Lighting plays a crucial role here.

Lagom-style living room, kitchen, and bedroom  

The focal point of the apartment, the living room, is a must-have for a comfortable sofa with cushions that will comfortably seat everyone. Next to it is the perfect spot for a coffee table, a shelf filled with books, or a rattan lamp. Moving into the kitchen, you'll notice a large solid wood table and kitchen cabinet fronts in a natural color, without ornamentation or carvings. A lagom-style kitchen windowsill filled with fresh flowers and herbs, and a basket full of fruit and vegetables on the table, are perfect. For the bedroom, choose a simple wooden bed and bedside tables. Minimalist prints and paintings will look great above it.
