WHAT WILL BE IN FASHION IN WINTER 2021 AND 2022? 5 FASHION TRENDS STRAIGHT FROM THE RUNWAYS

December 4, 2021

As the year draws to a close, we wonder what will be fashionable in the winter of 2021 and 2022, but it hasn't yet found a home in our wardrobes. The atmosphere in shopping malls puts us in the festive spirit. It's time to start preparing for the holidays and ensure a cozy, warm, and fashionable wardrobe. We've reviewed the trends that dominated the runways, previewing the fashion trends for winter 2021 and 2022.

What will be fashionable in winter 2021 and 2022?

1. Fashionable dresses for winter

In cold temperatures, we can't wear lightweight silk dresses, but there are some interesting styles that can be added to our favorite winter outfits with a few clever tricks. Just play around with tights and shoes.
The dominant colors of dresses are green in various shades, black and beige, cream, or white. A classic dress is not only suitable for a winter opera; just add the right accessories, like lace or a wrap, and you've got a stylish everyday outfit. Knitted midi dresses, which accentuate the feminine figure, will also be in fashion.

2. Faux fur

Faux fur, worn as an accessory or as a significant element of the wardrobe, appeared in presentations by brands such as Givenchy, Prada, Fendi, Balenciaga, and Miu Miu. Combining leather elements with faux fur will be fashionable this winter. Both long and short hair dominated the runways. Two trends emerged: tawny shades (beige, camel, chocolate) and bolder, brighter colors (turquoise, purple, green, red).

3. Quilting

Quilting doesn't have to be associated with a down jacket worn for a trip to the mountains. This year, many designers have embraced this approach. We can find it at shows like Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Dior, Michael Kors, and Lacoste. Quilted wardrobes in military or hunting colors like khaki and camel are trendy, while other designers opt for bold colors and silver. Bold, space-inspired styles in metallic colors will undoubtedly be a hit.

4. Leather

A winter leather wardrobe is undoubtedly a great alternative to down coats or jackets. Leather is a wonderful material that adds a touch of elegance to any outfit. Leatherwear was featured in presentations by brands like Celine, Fendi, Simone Rocha, and Salvatore Ferragamo. Leather appears in retro, classic, and sporty styles in black or chocolate brown, but it also comes in colorful and even metallic finishes. Combining leather with faux fur creates a stunning effect.

5. Pleated skirts

The pleated skirt trend continues. This season, both narrow and wide pleats will be in vogue. Midi skirts inspired by classic or bourgeois 1970s styles dominate. School-ready versions of plaid miniskirts are also present, a nod to the film Clueless and the 1990s. Pleated skirts have appeared on the runways of many designers, including Celine, Max Mara, Ami, and Dior, in a wide variety of colors.

According to forecasts, the coming winter is expected to be cold and long, so a carefully chosen scarf should be an essential element of every outfit. Colorful scarves will be in fashion, from laconic black and off-white to the graceful color of seaside mist. Add a Jackie O-style headscarf, a balaclava or beret, and, of course, short or long gloves.
