WORLD LUXURY DAY: A NEW IMPORTANT DATE FOR THE LUXURY INDUSTRY
October 7, 2025
The global luxury goods industry now has its own holiday. Starting this year, World Luxury Day (WLD) will be celebrated on October 8th to celebrate the people, craftsmanship, and innovation that define the world of luxury. Established by the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce (WLCC), World Luxury Day is the first global celebration dedicated to the countless individuals who shape this industry, including artisans, jewelers, hoteliers, designers, innovators, and business leaders.
It all depends on people
Across countries and sectors, millions of people work in the luxury industry. This industry encompasses a remarkable diversity of professions. From tailors, hoteliers, and watchmakers to superyacht engineers, salespeople, designers, and creative directors—the list goes on. Together, they form a global community of talented and dedicated individuals whose work sustains the industry's excellence, innovation, and legacy.
"I've been involved in the luxury industry for over 17 years. During that time, I've met many fascinating people who are deeply committed to their work and truly love luxury. However, I noticed that, unlike pilots, retail workers, lawyers, economists, doctors, and many others, they didn't have their own professional holiday," says Alexander Chetchikov, president of WLCC. "It seemed unfair to me, so I thought: why not create a day for the entire industry that would unite everyone and be celebrated by people around the world?"
Why is this important?
The creation of World Luxury Day highlights the value of recognizing the people behind the scenes of premium brands, whose skills and dedication sustain an industry spanning continents. Beyond celebration, this day aims to spark conversations about ethical luxury, sustainability, excellence, innovation, and the appreciation of craftsmanship. It serves not only as a tribute but also as a catalyst for dialogue and progress in the global luxury sector.
Why October 8th
The chosen date marks the founding of the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce. From now on, October 8th will be a day that unites all those who contribute to the development of luxury, across the fashion, hospitality, jewelry, real estate, yachting, haute cuisine, design, and beyond.
How to celebrate
World Luxury Day will be more than just a symbolic occasion. WLCC sees it as a global stage to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and ethical progress. How to celebrate World Luxury Day:
● By organizing special fashion shows and exclusive collaborations.
● Hotels and resorts offering unique experiences.
● Chefs presenting curated menus and engaging culinary events.
● Exhibitions, online seminars and media partnerships to spark dialogue on sustainability and heritage.
"Luxury isn't just what you see in a boutique window," adds Chetchikov. "It's excellence, inspiration, and creating something meaningful, whether it's an object, a service, or an experience. It's a catalyst for dreams and achievements.".
Perspectives
In its first year, the WLCC will focus on building awareness through curated events on digital platforms. In the future, the WLCC aims to make World Luxury Day an event as highly anticipated as fashion weeks and industry awards ceremonies.
October 8 will now become a global tradition where we celebrate the watchmakers, designers, architects, chefs, hoteliers, jewelers and visionaries whose work defines luxury for generations to come.
